Farmer Field Schools

Young farmers in Bhokardan and Jafrabad talukas of Jalna district are a happy bunch. They show their fields to everyone with pride. The brown cotton fields, dotted with white fluffy cotton flowers, the green fields of haldi and ginger with broad, strong leaves, dotted with red and green chilly plants here and there, heaps of freshly harvested, golden maize in the fields, are all fruits of their labour.

But this is also the fruit of a very special endeavor- Farmer Field Schools (FFS).

“Does it ever rain at this time?!” is a poignant short film of a real life situation faced by the farmers of Akole Taluka, Maharashtra, India during the erratic and unprecedentedly heavy rainfall during the monsoons of 2010.


Greened to Go!

Darewadi Training Centre (DTC) that has over 300 visitors every year now sports a new GREEN look. DTC is now independent of the Grid, and entirely generates its own energy requirements.

With energy savings of 5600 kw/year, DTC now contributes to Carbon savings of nearly 4760 CO2 kgs.
